Payment and Refund Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

Scope of the policy and the products or services it covers

This Payment and Refund Policy applies to all payments made for access to Course A, the professional hub for live television production services offered by famejolt. The services include studio equipment integration training, dynamic camera techniques workshops, acoustic optimisation sessions, lighting setups instruction, and guidance on reliable production processes for news programmes, interviews, and live shows. It covers both one-time course enrolments and any ongoing access subscriptions purchased through the website. The policy governs transactions between customers in the United Kingdom and famejolt and explains how payments are handled, when contracts form, and the conditions under which refunds may be issued.

Prices, currencies, taxes, and any additional charges

All prices on the website are displayed in British Pounds Sterling (GBP). Prices include value added tax (VAT) at the prevailing UK rate where applicable. Customers are responsible for any additional charges such as bank fees for international transfers or currency conversion costs if paying from outside the UK. No hidden fees are added at checkout beyond those clearly shown before payment authorisation. Promotional discounts are applied automatically where eligible and are non-transferable.

Accepted payment methods, payment authorisation, and payment security

We accept major credit and debit cards, bank transfers, and approved digital wallets. Payment is authorised at the time of order placement. All transactions are processed through secure third-party payment gateways that comply with UK data protection standards including the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. Card details are never stored on our servers. In the event of a payment failure, the order will not be confirmed until successful authorisation occurs.

Order, booking, or service confirmation and when a contract is formed

A contract is formed when you receive an email confirmation of your booking or enrolment after payment has been successfully processed. This confirmation outlines the specific course modules, access duration, and start dates where relevant. Until this point, no binding agreement exists and you may cancel without penalty. Access credentials are issued only after contract formation.

Cancellation rights and applicable cancellation periods

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have 14 days from the date of contract formation to cancel without giving a reason. For digital content or services that begin immediately upon access, this right may be lost once you start consuming the content. You must notify us within the cooling-off period to exercise this right.

Refund eligibility, exclusions, and non-refundable items or services

Refunds are available for cancellations within the 14-day period provided no substantial content has been accessed. Exclusions apply to completed workshops, personalised training sessions, or promotional bundles where value has already been received. Non-refundable items include any downloadable materials once downloaded and any services marked as non-refundable at purchase due to their time-sensitive nature.

The step-by-step procedure and information required to request a refund

To request a refund, email c.pyke@salford.ac.uk with your order number, full name, and reason for the request. Include any supporting evidence such as confirmation of non-access. Requests must be submitted within the applicable time limits. We will acknowledge receipt within two working days.

Inspection, approval, rejection, and notification of the refund decision

Our team will review each request against the policy criteria. You will be notified of the decision by email within 10 working days. If approved, processing begins immediately. If rejected, the email will explain the specific reasons and any options for appeal or alternative resolution.

Refund method, processing time, and when funds should reach the customer

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. Processing typically takes 5 to 10 working days, though bank processing times may extend this to 14 days. You will receive confirmation once the refund has been initiated. For bank transfers, additional time may be required depending on your financial institution.

Special rules for digital content, subscriptions, services, or promotional offers where relevant

Digital course access begins upon enrolment and is non-refundable after the 14-day period or once content is streamed. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 7 days before the renewal date. Promotional offers are subject to the same cancellation rules but may have shorter access windows that affect eligibility. No partial refunds are given for unused subscription periods.

Failed payments, duplicate charges, chargebacks, and suspected fraud

Failed payments result in order cancellation. Duplicate charges are investigated upon notification and refunded where verified. Chargebacks are treated as disputes and may lead to account suspension pending resolution. Suspected fraudulent activity is reported to relevant authorities and may result in immediate order cancellation without refund.

Mandatory consumer rights in the target country that the policy cannot exclude

This policy does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to receive services of satisfactory quality and the right to remedies for faulty performance. Nothing in this policy excludes liability for personal injury or death caused by negligence or limits rights under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

Contact route, policy changes, and last-updated date

For questions about this policy contact us via the form on our Contacts page or email c.pyke@salford.ac.uk. We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is dated 2 November 2026 and replaces all previous versions. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Customers are advised to review this policy regularly. All communications regarding payments or refunds should be directed through official channels to ensure proper record keeping and compliance with UK consumer protection legislation.
