Legal Information

Last updated: 2 November 2026

1. About this legal information page

This page is the legal notice, company information page and provider information page for the website published under the name famejolt, referred to throughout as this website or the site. It explains who operates the site, which legal entity is responsible for it, which registration and tax identifiers apply, how visitors may use it, what intellectual property belongs to whom, what limits apply to the material published here, and which law governs any dispute. It is written in plain English so that visitors, customers, suppliers, freelancers and production partners can find the information they are legally entitled to see without working through unnecessary jargon.

We review this page regularly and update it whenever our company details, our services or the applicable law change. The date shown above is the date of the most recent revision. If you are reading a printed, saved or cached copy, please check the version published on the live website before relying on it.

2. Who we are: the operator of this website and its role

This website is operated by Adlib Audio Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. Adlib Audio Limited is the legal person responsible for the content of this website and for any contract, quotation, invoice, licence or hire agreement concluded or issued through it. Where this notice says we, us, our or the operator, it means Adlib Audio Limited.

famejolt is the name under which this website is published. It is a trading identity used by Adlib Audio Limited and is not a separate company, partnership, branch or legal entity. Any obligation created through this website is an obligation of Adlib Audio Limited, and no other brand, trading name or third party carries responsibility for it.

The site is a professional hub for live television production. It explores the practical and technical side of studio equipment integration, dynamic camera techniques, acoustic optimisation, lighting setups and reliable production processes for news programmes, interviews and live shows. The material is aimed at broadcast engineers, technical directors, lighting and sound specialists, studio managers, production companies and the people who commission and run live output.

Some of what we publish is general technical and editorial information. Some of it describes services, systems, equipment and support that we supply commercially. Where the two overlap, the terms that apply to a purchase or hire are the ones agreed in the relevant contract, quotation or order confirmation, not the general descriptions published on this website.

3. Legal form, registration details and tax identifiers

Under the Companies Act 2006 and the Companies (Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2008, UK companies must disclose specified details in business letters, order forms, emails, other electronic documents and on websites. The following is our mandatory company information, and the same details appear in the footer of every page of this site.

  • Registered company name: Adlib Audio Limited
  • Legal form: private limited company
  • Company registration number: 03555097
  • Place of registration: England and Wales
  • Public register: Companies House, Crown Way, Cardiff, CF14 3UZ, United Kingdom
  • VAT registration number: 477222243

The registration number and place of registration given above are the ones recorded on the public register at Companies House, and they should be quoted in correspondence about the company, an order, a hire period or an invoice. Where we state a share capital figure anywhere on this website, that figure refers to paid-up share capital. Our registered name is the name shown above; where a trading or brand name differs from it, that difference is explained on this page.

The directors of the company are its responsible representatives for legal purposes and are collectively responsible for the management of the business. Their appointments, and any changes to them, are filed at Companies House and are open to public inspection there. We do not publish personal information about individual directors on this page. Formal notices and service of documents should be addressed to the company at its registered office rather than to any individual personally.

If we ever describe ourselves as providing a regulated, authorised or accredited service, the relevant authorisation, professional body, scheme or registration number will be stated at the point where that service is offered. Unless a licence number, authorisation reference or professional registration is expressly given on this website, you should not assume that one exists. Where a trade or professional register entry is relied upon, its details will be supplied on request.

4. Registered office, business address and contact details

Our registered office address is The Greenhouse, MediaCityUK, Salford, Greater Manchester, M50 2EQ, UK. This is the address at which formal legal documents, statutory notices and service of process may be delivered to the company. If you need to write to us about a contract, an invoice, a hire agreement, an intellectual property matter or a data protection request, please use this address and mark the correspondence clearly so that it reaches the right team.

You can contact us by email at c.pyke@salford.ac.uk or by telephone on +44 161 295 4545. Our Contact page also offers a contact form, and messages sent through it reach the same team. Email is usually the fastest route for technical, editorial, contractual and data protection enquiries, while telephone is usually the fastest route for time-sensitive production matters.

We may need to ask you to confirm your identity before we act on certain requests, particularly requests relating to personal data or to rights belonging to someone else. Please allow a reasonable period for a reply. We do not accept legal service of documents, formal complaints or notices of termination by social media message, live chat or contact form; those must be sent by post to the registered office or by email to the address above.

5. Purpose, scope and intended audience of this website

This website exists to inform and to explain. It describes the technical and operational side of live television production, the equipment and system integration that support it, and the processes that make news programmes, interviews and live shows reliable night after night. It also presents the commercial services, systems and support we provide in that field.

The content is written for a professional audience and assumes a working knowledge of broadcast environments, studio infrastructure, signal flows, camera movement, lighting rigs and acoustic treatment. It is not directed at children and is not designed for visitors who are simply looking for entertainment content. Nothing on this website is professional engineering, structural, electrical, acoustic, health and safety or legal advice for a specific venue or project. Any such advice must come from a suitably qualified professional who has inspected the premises, the power supply, the rigging points and the equipment concerned.

The website is intended for users in the United Kingdom, and the legal information on this page is written for that audience. If you access the site from elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with any local rules that apply to you. We may offer different levels of content, including an open overview area and more detailed commercial or project material; access to any restricted area is granted on the terms shown when access is given, and those terms form part of the agreement between us.

6. Access to the website and acceptable use

You may view and use this website for lawful purposes connected with your own work, organisation or genuine research. We provide access free of charge for browsing, and we ask in return that you respect the rules below. In particular, you must not:

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, its server, network, database or any account;
  • introduce viruses, worms, malware, ransomware, spyware or any other harmful material, or run automated vulnerability scanning or penetration testing against the site without our prior written permission;
  • scrape, harvest, crawl, mirror or systematically copy content, images, catalogues, technical data or contact information, or use automated tools in a way that places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure;
  • copy, reproduce, republish or resell substantive parts of the site in order to build a competing product, service or dataset;
  • use the site to send unsolicited commercial communications, to impersonate another person or company, or to transmit unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, obscene or misleading material;
  • remove, obscure or alter copyright notices, watermarks, credits, disclaimers or other proprietary markings;
  • use the site in any way that breaches the Computer Misuse Act 1990, the Fraud Act 2006, the Equality Act 2010 or any other applicable legislation.

We may suspend, restrict or withdraw access to all or part of the site without notice where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken, where maintenance or security work is required, or where a legal or operational issue makes it necessary. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or free from errors, and we may remove content that has become out of date.

7. Commercial use, prices and how an order becomes a contract

This is a commercial website. Descriptions, photographs, diagrams and technical specifications of equipment, systems and services are provided for information and may change as manufacturers revise products, as standards develop, or as stock considerations and scheduling change. They do not amount to an offer that is binding on us, and nothing on this website obliges us to accept an order.

Prices are shown in pounds sterling unless stated otherwise. VAT is charged where it applies at the rate in force at the time of supply, and our VAT registration number is given in section 3 above. Delivery, installation, rigging, commissioning, travel, de-rig and extended hire periods may attract additional charges, which are set out in the quotation or order confirmation. A contract is formed only when we confirm an order in writing or begin to perform the service, whichever happens first.

Sales to consumers are subject to the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which require certain information to be given before a contract is made and confirmed afterwards, together with a cancellation form where a right to cancel applies. Sales and hires to businesses are governed by the terms agreed in the applicable contract, hire agreement or quotation. Where equipment is hired rather than sold, the hire terms apply and the equipment must be returned in the condition required by those terms. Full details of payment methods, deposits, cancellation, cancellation charges, returns, restocking and refunds are set out in our Terms and Conditions, in our Payment and Refund Policy and in the individual quotation, order confirmation or hire agreement.

8. Intellectual property: what we own and how you may use it

Unless we say otherwise, all content on this website, including text, technical write-ups, diagrams, photographs, illustrations, video clips, layout, graphics, code and the selection and arrangement of the whole site, is owned by Adlib Audio Limited or is licensed to it, and is protected by copyright, database right, design right, trade mark and other intellectual property laws in the United Kingdom and internationally.

The names, logos and brand elements used on the site, including Adlib Audio Limited and the trading identity famejolt, are protected as trade marks or unregistered marks. Nothing on this website grants you a licence to use them, and you may not use them in a way that suggests a connection, approval, endorsement or partnership that does not exist. Third party product names, manufacturer names and model designations mentioned on the site are the trade marks of their respective owners and are used only to identify the equipment, systems or services concerned.

You may view the site, download and print short extracts for internal, non-commercial reference, and quote brief passages with a clear acknowledgement of the source. You may not copy, republish, distribute, sell, sublicense, translate, adapt, frame, mirror or create derivative works from substantial parts of the site without our prior written permission, and you may not use our content to train, fine-tune or feed automated systems that reproduce it at scale. Requests for permission, for press or editorial use, or for reproduction in training material should be sent to c.pyke@salford.ac.uk, and we will normally reply within a reasonable period.

9. Accuracy, availability and limitations of liability

We take care to keep the information on this website accurate and current, but technical information ages quickly and broadcast equipment changes frequently. We therefore do not warrant that any description, specification, compatibility statement, configuration suggestion, workflow or process described here is complete, current, error-free or suitable for your particular venue, rig, network, crew or programme format.

Individual items of equipment may fail or behave differently from their published specification, and production environments involve variables that no website can assess, including acoustics, power quality, earthing, rigging points, radio frequency congestion, temperature, cable runs and human factors. Any technical or operational decision you take on the basis of material published here is taken at your own risk, and you should verify critical details with the manufacturer, the venue and a qualified engineer before a live transmission or a public event.

Nothing in this notice excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of anticipated savings, loss or corruption of data, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, this website or its content. Where the law implies terms that cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to the remedies that the law requires. Where we supply goods or services to a business, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the goods or service concerned, or to the limit stated in the applicable contract, whichever is greater.

We may change, suspend or withdraw all or part of this website at any time, including content that has been superseded by newer standards, products or working practices. We are under no obligation to keep any particular page, diagram or specification available indefinitely.

10. External links and third-party content

This website may refer or link to websites, documents, manuals, firmware files, specification sheets, planning tools and standards published by third parties, such as equipment manufacturers, standards bodies, venues, broadcasters and industry organisations. Those references are provided for convenience and context only, and their inclusion is not an endorsement of the third party, its products or its practices.

We do not control third-party content and we are not responsible for its accuracy, completeness, legality, availability, accessibility or security, nor for anything that happens when you follow a link, download a file or rely on a third party statement. Your dealings with any third party, including any purchase, licence, warranty claim or support arrangement, are between you and that third party, and their terms, conditions and privacy notices apply to those dealings.

If you believe that content published on this website infringes your rights, or that a link is broken or points to something inappropriate, please tell us at c.pyke@salford.ac.uk with enough detail for us to identify the material concerned. We will investigate promptly and, where appropriate, remove or amend the material or the link.

11. Personal data, cookies and the policies that sit alongside this notice

When you use this website we may process personal data about you. This happens, for example, when you complete the contact form, send us an email, telephone us, request a quotation, place an order, or simply browse pages that use cookies and similar technologies. We are the data controller for that processing, and we handle personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, the lawful basis we rely on, how long we keep it, who we may share it with, how it is stored and protected, whether it is transferred outside the United Kingdom and on what safeguards, and the rights available to you. Those rights include access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, portability, and the right not to be subject to certain automated decisions. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, although we would ask you to raise the matter with us first so that we have the chance to put it right.

Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies, pixels and similar technologies used on the site, what each category is for and how long it lasts. Strictly necessary cookies are needed for the site to function and to remember your cookie choices. Non-essential cookies, in particular analytics and any advertising or marketing cookies, are set only with your consent, which you give or refuse through the cookie banner and which you can change at any time through the cookie settings offered on the site. We do not use pre-ticked boxes or treat continued browsing as consent for non-essential cookies.

The following documents form part of the terms on which this website is made available to you and should be read alongside this legal notice: the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, the Terms and Conditions, and the Payment and Refund Policy. Where there is a conflict between this legal notice and a signed contract, hire agreement or order confirmation that you have agreed with us, the signed document prevails to the extent of that conflict.

12. Equipment, safety, hire and environmental obligations

Production equipment carries both legal and practical obligations. Electrical equipment supplied, installed or hired by us must be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, with applicable British Standards and with the requirements of the venue and the electricity supply. Where equipment is hired, the hire terms set out the responsibilities of the hirer for transport, storage, security, PAT testing where required, damage, loss and insurance. Equipment must not be modified, opened, repaired or used outside its rated specification without our written agreement.

The person or organisation responsible for a production remains responsible for risk assessments, method statements, rigging calculations, working at height arrangements, temporary electrical distribution and the safety of everyone in the studio, gallery or venue. Our documentation and technical guidance supports that work but does not replace it.

Where we produce, distribute, hire or install electrical and electronic equipment, we meet our obligations under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013, including registration, take-back and reporting requirements where they apply. Used lamps, batteries, cables, screens and control equipment must not be disposed of as general waste; they should be returned through the appropriate take-back route or delivered to a licensed waste facility. We also work to applicable packaging, hazardous substance and energy-related product rules.

The Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires commercial organisations above the statutory turnover threshold to publish an annual slavery and human trafficking statement. Where that obligation applies to us, our statement is published on this website with a prominent link from the home page, and our supply chain due diligence is reviewed regularly.

Music, archive footage, graphics, fonts, software plugins and third-party content used in a production are almost always subject to rights belonging to someone else. Clearing those rights, and meeting any broadcaster code, licence or regulatory requirement that applies to your transmission, is your responsibility and not ours.

13. Applicable law, jurisdiction and your rights as a consumer

This legal notice, your use of this website, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you are established if you are a business and we need to enforce our rights or protect our intellectual property there.

If you are a consumer, nothing in this notice affects the statutory rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 or other consumer protection legislation, and nothing here excludes or restricts any right you have to bring a claim in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live. Where the mandatory consumer protections of Scotland or Northern Ireland are more favourable to you than those of England and Wales, those protections apply.

If a dispute about an online order cannot be settled directly between us, we will always try to resolve it through good faith discussion first. We are not obliged to participate in any alternative dispute resolution procedure, but if we agree to do so we will tell you which provider and procedure are involved and what any cost would be. Consumers may also seek free initial advice from Citizens Advice or from a local advice service.

14. Complaints, and the contact route for formal notices

If something has gone wrong, we want to hear about it quickly. Please contact us at c.pyke@salford.ac.uk or on +44 161 295 4545, or write to us at The Greenhouse, MediaCityUK, Salford, Greater Manchester, M50 2EQ, UK, setting out what happened, the date, any order, contract or invoice reference, and what outcome you are looking for. We aim to acknowledge complaints within five working days and to give a substantive response within twenty-eight days, although complex technical or contractual matters may take longer and we will keep you informed if that happens.

Where a complaint concerns a live production or an equipment fault, please also notify the duty contact named in your production paperwork or hire agreement so that the operational issue can be addressed immediately rather than waiting for the formal process. Urgent safety matters should always be reported by telephone in the first instance. If we cannot resolve a matter to your satisfaction, we will explain the options available to you, including any right to escalate the matter, to use a dispute resolution provider at your own cost, or to seek a legal remedy.

15. Changes to this page and further information

We may amend this legal notice at any time by publishing an updated version on this page and changing the last-updated date shown at the top. The version in force is the one published on the site at the time you use it, and continued use of the website after an update means that you accept the updated notice. We recommend that you check this page periodically and, in particular, before entering into a new contract, hire agreement or order with us.

If anything on this page is unclear, or if you need the information in a different format, please contact us at c.pyke@salford.ac.uk or on +44 161 295 4545, or write to us at The Greenhouse, MediaCityUK, Salford, Greater Manchester, M50 2EQ, UK. We will provide the clarification you need and, where the law requires it, will supply information in an accessible format free of charge.
